One or more prizes within a total of £1,000 may be awarded. All entrants will be invited to a conference in the autumn of 2010, where the winners will be announced. Rules and Regulations below.
Rules and regulations
Contest Guidelines
- Eligibility: The contest is open to all persons aged 18-35 residing in the UK, or those enrolled as a full-time student in a UK University, at the time of submission.
- Deadline for submissions is midnight on 30 April 2010.
- How to Enter: Please download a registration form at http://young-pugwash.org.uk and email this with your submission to rotblat2010@young-pugwash.org.uk, with the subject line “Rotblat Competition: UK Elections”. If you do not receive confirmation within four business days, please resubmit or contact us at 020 7898 4895.
- Entries must be submitted in English (British or American English accepted for written entries but please be consistent).
- All essays should be submitted as Word, RTF or a document format suitable for editing; all video entries must be posted on www.youTube.com (respecting their regulations on copyright) and the URL clearly listed in the registration form.
- Group submissions are welcomed.
- Entries should be well thought-out and must be relevant to the topic listed overleaf.
- Avoid defamatory or discriminatory statements and harsh language.
- Submissions that endorse a particular political party will not be accepted.
- All entries must be the contestant’s original work and must not infringe on copyright laws. Please note that any videos produced without proper copyright permissions cannot be accepted.
Judging
Entries will be judged by a panel of experts based on content, creativity, and presentation.
Our panel of judges will be made up from the British Pugwash Executive Committee,
http://www.pugwash.org/uk/membership.htm and/or specially invited outside experts. The decisions of the judges are final and binding. The judges may decide not to award a prize if no entry of sufficient merit are submitted or for any other reason.
Contest winners will be notified by email or phone by the end of August 2010.
